The Rolling Dynamic Deflectometer (RDD) is a relatively new tool for assessing the condition of pavements. The RDD measures continuous deflection profiles rather than deflections at discrete points. This paper discusses the operating parameters for RDD testing and presents the results of RDD testing on rigid and flexible pavements. Additionally, measurement of deflection basins “on the fly” and measurement of frequency-response spectra at discrete locations with the RDD are discussed and illustrated.
