A procedure for the testing of pinned-end steel columns is presented in detail. The typical basic types of end fixtures which are intended to provide ideal pinned-end conditions are illustrated and evaluated. An end fixture, designed to carry an axial load of two million pounds, is discussed in connection with column tests conducted at Le-high University. A procedure for data analysis and the evaluation of the results is presented.
